Tissue Work

I gravitate to tissue paper. The delicate, translucent quality of tissue, in process, demonstrates a kind of strength in its vulnerability. In the process of creating a work of art the tissue is cut or torn and glued one layer on top of another, over and over again to create the desired form or expression. Through the course of our lives we develop and change and become who we are through the layering of experiences and influences of those around us. We can be cut and torn and mended emotionally and physically but it is through this process we become who we are.
