Foreign Aid

While visiting the Royal Winter Fair, I was struck by the absurdity of human behaviour. Humans carting their animals hundreds of miles to downtown Toronto, a completely foreign environment and caring for them in a completely foreign manner, racing to clean up messes, incessantly clipping, brushing, braiding. So much care and attention and to what end? This painting is a commentary on the absurdities of human behaviour and asks us to consider impetus and effectiveness before we affect our behaviour on others and to acknowledge that sometimes we get it wrong.
